Mercedes-Benz: from upholstery waste to verified value.

01 · Challenge

A valuable material was leaving the production story too early.

Mercedes-Benz Camiones y Buses needed a responsible destination for automotive upholstery generated at its Zárate Industrial Center — one that could preserve material value and produce evidence strong enough for internal reporting.

The challenge was not simply to remove waste. It was to connect collection, transformation and delivery in one accountable programme.

Zárate is part of a long industrial history: Argentina hosted the first Mercedes-Benz factory established outside Germany in 1951.

02 · Strategy

Design the outcome around the material already available.

REZET Global built the programme from the waste stream outward: understand the material, design a useful second life.

01 · RECOVER

Start at source

Automotive upholstery was identified, measured and collected from the Zárate plant as a defined batch.

02 · REDESIGN

Make usefulness the brief

The material became complete grill sets: cutlery, a wooden cutting board and a durable tote bag.

03 · REPORT

Every step of the process traceable

Local production, connected handoffs, and full traceability from recovered input to finished output. Audit-ready metrics for reporting.

03 · Process

One stream, transformed step by step.

The visual record stays close to the material: recovery, preparation, cutting, assembly, finishing and delivery.

04 · Evidence · Measured with REZET Hub

The impact was recorded while the material moved.

REZET Global recovered and transformed the material. REZET Hub made the chain provable: the batch opened at collection, each handoff carried responsibility, and finished output was reconciled with input.

All figures shown here are verified records from the REZET Hub database, not illustrative samples. The difference between 112 m² recovered and 107.2 m² diverted reflects offcut and production loss reconciled batch by batch.

01

Capture

The batch starts at the plant with material, quantity, date and responsible party.

02

Custody

Every transfer records who hands over and who receives.

03

Reconcile

Input, product, offcut and loss remain connected.

04

Prove

The final record is ready for reporting and supplier review.

05 · Outcome

A second life people can use — and a result the organisation can prove.

155 complete grill sets were delivered from a programme involving 12 people in production.

The value is double: a material outcome with a useful life, and an evidence trail that does not need to be reconstructed at reporting time.
