Established in 1994, Toyota Argentina is a key automotive manufacturer and exporter, operating a major production plant in Zárate, Buenos Aires, since 1997. It is a market leader in the country.
The Zárate plant is one of the few in Argentina with enough scale to be globally competitive, producing over 180,000 vehicles annually by 2023. Over 80% of the production is exported to 22 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Toyota has achieved top sales rankings in Argentina and as of 2021, the company employed around 6,500 people.

From 1,650 recovered airbags, combined with automotive upholstery and seat belts from Toyota’s supply chain, we produced 1,000 premium product sets—transforming complex waste streams into tangible value. This project activated local manufacturing capacity and generated skilled employment through specialised upcycling processes, extending impact beyond material recovery. Production was carried out within community-based workshops, where underutilised industrial capabilities are reactivated as hubs for craftsmanship, training, and inclusive economic participation.
